A recently published article in a peer reviewed journal, discusses medical exercise as an alternate option to surgery for a degenerative meniscal tear in the knee, otherwise known as Arthritis. They measured their pain and quality of life at time points up to 1 year after the enrolment. Both groups showed similar reductions in the pain and increases in function and quality of life. However, the group who participated in the exercise program showed significantly greater improvements in anxiety and depression.
